Overview #
TreadMate is designed with your privacy in mind. The app does not collect your health or workout data, and does not send it to the developer or any third party. The only thing it shares is anonymous usage counts, described under Analytics below, which you can turn off.
Data Stored on Your Device #
Your workout history (date, duration, distance, calories and speed) is stored only on your iPhone. It is not uploaded anywhere, and the developer cannot see it. Deleting the app deletes this data.
Bluetooth #
TreadMate uses Bluetooth to find and control your treadmill. The connection goes directly between your iPhone and the treadmill. Nothing from it is sent to the developer or to any server.
Apple Health #
TreadMate can save finished workouts to Apple Health, only if you allow it. You can save workouts one at a time or turn on automatic saving in Settings. The data goes into Apple Health on your device and is governed by your Health settings. You can change or revoke access at any time in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices.
Analytics #
TreadMate sends anonymous usage statistics via TelemetryDeck to help improve the app. These are counts of events only, for example that the app was opened, a workout started or ended, a treadmill connected or failed to connect, a save to Health succeeded or failed, or the feedback link was tapped.
No health data, workout values (such as distance, duration or calories), device identifiers or personal data are included. Signals are anonymised before they leave your device and cannot be traced back to you. You can turn this off at any time in Settings → Privacy → Share anonymous usage data. TelemetryDeck is a privacy-first analytics platform. You can read their privacy policy at telemetrydeck.com/privacy.
Third-Party Services #
Other than TelemetryDeck (described above), TreadMate does not use any third-party services, SDKs, or advertising networks. There are no accounts and no tracking across apps or websites.
Children’s Privacy #
TreadMate does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13.
